Announcements & Events

Dear La Rosa Families,

Welcome to the 20-21 school year! What strange unprecedented times we are in! Even though you may not have been able to go anywhere this summer, I hope you were able to “shelter in place” with your loved ones and strengthen those family ties. It is during difficult times that we tend to take stock and realize the things and people we are thankful for in our lives. I am thankful for many things. I am most thankful for my husband, my children, and my health. However, I want you each to know that I feel very grateful to have a career that I love. I feel blessed to work for the Ceres Unified School District. Through everything that has happened since March, the District has been working tirelessly to ensure that your children still receive the quality education they deserve. Lastly, I am so grateful for my La Rosa team of teachers and classified staff. Their hearts are breaking that they are not able to meet your children face to face on the first day of school. However, they are working hard to make this situation a positive learning experience for everyone. They are dedicated to your children. We are all in it together.

There is no other team I would rather have.

Wednesday, August 12th is the first day of school. School times are different due to distance learning. School starts at 8:30 A.M. and ends at 2:00 P.M. Approximately one hour of the day will be live on Zoom with their classroom teacher. The rest of the day, your student is expected to be working on assignments through their Google Classroom. On Aug. 12th, ALL classes will have a WELCOME Zoom meeting at 9:00 A.M. During this meeting, teachers will give the students their weekly schedule and their regular Zoom times. In order for your student to be able to join the WELCOME Zoom meetings on Aug. 12th at 9:00 A.M., they will need to receive an invite from their teacher to join their Google Classroom. All of the teachers will send out email invitations to their students this Friday, Aug. 7th after 2:00 P.M. Check your student’s district email after 2 P.M. this Friday for the email invitation. Once you find the invitation, accept it. Then on August 12th at 9:00 A.M., your student will be able to access their Google Classroom for their WELCOME Zoom meeting.

We also had three of our amazing teachers retire this past school year; Gina Rafatti-2nd

(26 years); Cindi Gorang-3rd (30 years); Sandy Vess-6th (33 Years). We appreciate their years of service and are grateful for the positive impact they have had on their students and colleagues for several decades. We will miss them but wish them well in the next chapter of their lives.

Lastly, the District will begin its Drive-Thru Meal Service on the first day of school, Aug. 12th from 11:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M. on Monday through Friday each week. Meals are for CUSD enrolled students ONLY and must be picked up at the student’s enrolled site or designated site. Our designated site is Cesar Chavez Junior High School. A parent/guardian may pick up the meal without the student present, but must show a student ID card for scanning. We will be distributing these lunch ID cards on Aug. 6th and 7th when parents turn in the completed registration packets.
