Welcome to La rosa

Dear Families,

Welcome to a new school year! I hope your summer was full of quality family time and relaxation! I spent my time enjoying being a mom and wife. My daughter, Emily, who will be three this month, took her first swimming lessons, and we spent countless hours at the library taking advantage of their summer programs. I also organized my house as we prepare for the arrival of our 2nd child! We are expecting a baby boy by November 1st! We are very excited! I am planning on being gone from November 1st through the holidays and will be back when we return from Winter Break.
Last year was another great year, and we look forward to forging ahead again this year! We are excited to witness the opening of Cesar Chavez Jr. High School and are blessed to have our former 6th graders be the first class to attend this fine establishment. We are also anxiously awaiting the opening of our new office/library building and additional classrooms. The new classrooms will be home to one of our existing classes as well as two preschool programs. We are thrilled to be able to offer preschool programs on our campus. For more information on preschool, please call their office at 556-1545. In addition, we will again be hosting The Parent Institute program for our families. Many of you attended a few years ago and have shared your desire to attend again. The Parent Institute is an organization which offers valuable parent education and information through a series of classes. More information will be sent out at a later date. We are fortunate to be the recipient of a family literacy grant again this coming year. As in the past few years, we will be looking at ways to provide you with academic materials and information to support home learning. We welcome your input and want to meet your needs. We will be implementing a “universally free” breakfast program this year. All students will be eligible to receive a free breakfast before the school day begins. We are excited about this opportunity since we know how important eating breakfast is to student learning.
Remember the best “gift” you can give your child is time invested in his/her education. Make it your number one priority this school year to become involved in your child’s learning. Whether you attend a field trip, come to a school event, or volunteer during your lunch break, get involved! Communicate on a regular basis with your child’s teacher to stay informed about your child’s progress. It is a joint responsibility. Together we can reach our common goal for your child to succeed and reach his/her full potential. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school or make an appointment to come in and see me. I enjoy meeting families and value your input and support.

Lori Mariani, Principal
